This review does not reflect the technicians who visited my home, they were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. My concerns are with how the system was sold to me and the issues I’ve experienced since installation.
I was told by the sales representative that the cameras offered a wide range of motion, could be manually adjusted, and that I’d be able to access past video clips from any alerts at any time. None of that was accurate. The cameras have a fixed angle with a limited field of view, cannot be moved, and have already had multiple disconnection issues. The app has also been unresponsive at times, even on a new Samsung device.
Service has been another frustration. I’ve reported several issues, yet Vivint scheduled different technicians for each one, despite the fact that a single tech could have handled installation and troubleshooting. I also learned that each visit comes with a cost. On top of that, the scheduling system repeatedly sent technicians earlier than the times I was given, leading to unnecessary inconvenience, again, not the technicians’ fault but a scheduling issue.
Overall, I feel misled by the initial sales presentation and disappointed with the system’s reliability and support so far.

New equipment is not quite right. Tech was supposed to arrive Tuesday between Noon and 4:00. Never showed.

Tech had only been on the job 3 days. No one with him and had to come back the weekend to finish. Also added 2 sensors and they charged it to my personal account instead of the credit card. Still haven't gotten that fixed. Just not impressed with at all.

I thought this was an American based company. So when I called for technical support and billing questions I was connected numerous times to a call center in INDIA. I was on the phone for 50 minutes and put on hold 8 times. Each time the gentleman tried to sell me products that I didn't want and kept telling me he was waiting for his supervisor to give me a reference number to my case. It has still not been taken care of. I do not even want to call with my questions because I do not want to go through this aggravation again. It will be a long 5 years but when my contract is up, if customer support has not improved I will not renew.

Beginning with my initial contact up until installation, no one gave me complete information on the the sales process. I was so confused. No one seem to know what they were doing. On the day of installation, my installer who was very professional and knowledgeable about the mechanics of the sales process and equipment was a deal saver for Vivint because after six hours of trying to get my paperwork completed that should have been done way before the day of installation, I was about to choose another company. There are no words for the agony that I went through. My installer took the time to explain everything to me. If it had not been for him and my personal experience with my daughter having the same system, it would have been a no deal for me. The equipment is great but your sales staff needs training. Therefore, I can only give a 2 rating for them and a 5 for your installer because he rescued the sale for your company.

Every time I get the notification that someone is at the door or there’s a package, I click on it to open the app but 9/10 it will not open. I’m not sure if it’s because of the phone I got or it’s just the app itself. It stays on the screen where it’s only the icon of Vivint and that’s it. I was told I would be able to control my thermostat from wherever I’m at but it won’t load when I can open the app. I replaced my Ring camera with this one and honestly Ring never had issues like this. I’m still trying to give it a chance but it’s not looking too good so far.
Lost controller skills after switching to Vivint
With ADT, my controller displayed the weather, the time, and other information all the time. With Vivint, all I see is a boring, useless black screen. I miss being able to just look at the security controller from my office room (the controller is in front of my office across the hall) and check the time and the weather.

Vivint’s equipments are so expensive compared to ADT! $50 for the sensors?? Seriously?? The home that we bought already have a panel and outdoor camera and doorbell but otherwise I would not go with Vivint!

Poor Quality
The quality of this equipment is average at best and way overpriced. I’ve been using Vivint for about 6 months to give it a fair chance and it’s definitely not worth the amount of money I’m paying for it. The salesman said the cameras could tell the difference between dogs and people which is not true. It even sends person detected alerts when it’s raining and more recently, when I leaf was falling in front of the camera. I deeply regret signing up for this service. I was better off using Ring cameras and doorbells. I do not recommend Vivint.

I have been getting phones calls and I can't answer them because it's either late at night when I am sleeping or when I am at work. I am not making a lot to keep up with payments and when I want to talk to someone over the phone it's all automated. I may end up getting down graded at my job or losing my job and would like to work something out but like I said, no one is picking up. It's too expensive for me to keep up and no one is picking up the phone. What the heck?!

Had my doorbell camera changed out. usually with new equipment they just add it to my bill. this time a loan was taken out in my name for 3 times the amount. when I called and talked to a couple of people nobody could give me an answer. I was given a phone number for the loan company but can't get a real person only automated and it won't let me create an account so I can see it.

Don't recommend. Vivent was ok while we were on contract with them, but then at the end of the contract they cut you off the app so you have all their shitty equipment that cannot be used.
