I'm not happy
I dont like the equipment or the service. The volume is low and it cant be turned up. Its not compatible with Alexa. I'm very disappointed and wish I had not purchased this particular alarm system.

Here is my story from start to finish. System equipment bought for $4000 i paid it of early because I was tired of having a loan in my name. I had attempted to terminate my service 3 times since then. I complained about how my system has not worked right since day 1. It was either tge door lock the garage door system (which has never worked right) so I laid for something that was never going to work. I've also had sensor fail and it took a lot of phone calls to finally get some things squared away with out having to pau to get my system serviced (you should never have to pay to make sure an already paying customer gets taken care of) most recently we were unable to look at any of our cameras through the hub or app. Even after rebooting ,uninstalling the app and trying to reconnect the internet. The te h told me there's nothing wrong with tge system call our internet provider... we even bought a new router and modem and nothing we couldn't get anything to work right. Until my spouse pulled tge panel apart and took out the battery amd put it back in.... for the money this system makes people pay not only for the equipment but tge monthly service is a joke. I am not happy with it. I never have been and I urge others to stay clear. The fact that jist as good if not better system can be purchased with no mostly fees online is great. So this one unhappy customer for the last 4 nearly 5 years because of the contract we signed. We will be terminating immediately when that contract is over.

I haven’t had my service a week and my camera keeps going off-line. No one seems to know so I’m not happy at the moment.
Run from this company.
The tech was fine for the installation, however, later that day another tech came by to ask why he wasn't the installer since my house was in his territory. Very creepy!
A month later, my panel blacked out.
Two months after that, the doorbell camera started recording every few minutes but no one was at the door. A month or so later, a door sensor fell off and shattered. They wanted to charge me to fix it!!
Fast forward to 8 months after installation and now the cameras aren't recording at all!
When I called to cancel the first time, I was told I would have to pay a fee (which is a lie if there's no contract) and when I called today to cancel, the agent kept putting me on hold to "check" that my equipment was indeed paid off since I started with them. Then she said she would send a technician to my house so I could decide if I really wanted to cancel.

The cameras often fail and don't record. They often display blank video when they do say they record. Difficult to get timely service. Expensive, a charge for everything.

I got the service in 2018. It’s fully worked 85% of the time. Service guy came out here 3 years ago told me that my panel placement was the problem so basically I’m screwed. Isn’t that awesome. So we payed high dollar for a service that the guys placed a panel in an area that wouldn’t allow my cameras to connect. Sensors don’t connect. I basically have a glitchy living room camera and porch camera.

Plenty of flaws with this system - the door sensors "don't work on metal doors" (per Vivint) and there is no way to Arm Away without opening an external door (which makes no sense in many situations). The company needs to do a lot better.

Old house not set up for modern systems. I am not versed in modern devices. Owners manual would be nice. Just not working for me. But equipment is very nice.
Our Vivant experience
The cameras & system is good. Had a bit of trouble when we changed our wifi & it took over 3 hours to fix but I finally got the problem solved.
The salesman was very friendly & knowledgeable.
The insulation of the cameras & sensors went well until he ran the drill through our garage sensor wire & it cost us $300 to fix. He also left his trash in the house & driveway.

Misleading costs
Service tech that came out was great, my issue is with the actual up front costs vs all the hidden factors. You need to be more open with that. I did not like that you advertise one price for $36 a month, but then add another $54 for equipment charges for 60 months. Also having to run a credit report with a hard strike on my report was very disappointing. I just bought a house had 2 checks done now you just added a 3 rd. for a alarm system? That's a bit overkill without even an option.

3-1/2 month review
I really think the equipment and app work great and are very easy to use. My issue with Vivent has everything to do with the sales person that I dealt with. After going over what I was paying with a competitor, it was explained to me that I would be paying $10-$15 less with Vivint and received my bill this month and it's actually $20 dollars more. I feel that I was lied to by the sales person, and they didn't have any integrity at all.

I was original sold on Vivint because it seemed like the cheaper and “smarter” option. When the technician actually came he tried to upsell me on so many items I finally told him to stop. My original quoted price ended up significantly higher. We are saving no money over ADT and still have that outrageous equipment charge. Also, I had nearly no actual training on the dashboard or the app. The technician tried to move up the appointment and I could tell he was in a hurry. Basically because I didn’t order any of the cameras he seemed like there wasn’t much to show me. A week later the batteries in every sensor died and the panel is constantly beeping. I regret purchasing the system and I expected more.

This company charges unauthorized fees and the door cameras are trash! I find myself having to reboot it every other day. And, if you order any extra accessories to add to your security system, it takes FOREVER for them to arrive. Also they just might double charge you for any extra accessories purchased on their site! I hate I even gave them a chance at my business.
